6The Lord said to Cain, Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? 7If you do well, will you not be accepted. And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.
8Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.
9Then the Lord said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? He said, I do not know; am I my brother's keeper? Genesis 4:6-9.
What provokes a man to take a life? Fear, anger, insecurity, self hatred?
Street PositiveŽ has had the misfortune of sitting down way too many times with parents on both sides and neither situation is comfortable nor desirable. "No parent should ever have to bury their child or see them locked away for the rest of their life."
Something is very wrong when a society accepts killing as a normalcy. Especially, when children are involved.
But, once again "what" makes a person kill? To better understand the frequency, one must better understand the failed systems in community and "at home" that allow disturbed individuals to go undetected and uninterrupted.
There is no reason why any child's murder should ever go unsolved. And, as God called out Cain for the murder of Abel, we must call out those who harm or murder our children.
